A tented wedding on a private residence on the rocky shores of Northern Michigan.Hayley and Ron has the most beautiful personalized details on their wedding day. The couple grew up going to cottages on Higgins Lake and were friends since elementary school. They didn’t fall in love until college and continued to grow there love spending summers on the lake. When they got engaged there was no question that their Michigan wedding reception would be at the groom family cabin Higgins Lake.
When the couple begun wedding planning the new they wanted to include the Mitten (Michigan shape) die cut. Higgins lake quickly became the theme of their wedding. Initiations by Caitlin designed a custom monogram that included the outline of Higgins Lake, the couples initials and wild greenery. This monogram was used throughout the wedding from the invitations, custom bar signs, menus, adirondack chair and programs. The bridal bouquets features long flowy silk ribbon and the most unique blooms designed to looks like they were freshly picked from the garden.
Tented Lake wedding in Michigan
Guest enjoyed cocktails around the private estate and were invited to join the reception where guest were entered the tent lined in smilax, gold brass lanterns, and lush floral. The sail cloth tent was was covered from top to bottoms with the most unique blooms.
The bride was inspired by unique textures, dusty rose with a pop of deep pomegranate and bringing nature inside the tent. When designing the wedding I wanted to the guest to feel transported into the most lush botanical garden, it was really important to the couple to focus on guest experience and details that were uniquely them. We mixed in a lush velvet rose quartz into the design to soften the look of the farm tables and chairs. This really played well into the textures of the floral and still allowing the floral chandelier to be the focal point.
The large but intimate sail cloth tent wedding focused on lush textured floral on the tables, a 12 foot circle floral chandelier stood above the most elegant buttercream wedding cake with large blooms to tie the couples love for exploring and nature. Bistro bulbs were strung from the ceiling adorned with smilax. As the sunset hundreds of taper candles lit up the tent for a night of dancing and celebrating.
The couple inspired by the Mitten state also selected Michigan Moscow Mule served in copper mug and topped with a Traverse City Whiskey Co cherry. The white bar with wild smilax was the perfect backdrop for the pyramid of copper mugs and custom bar sign. The brides family custom build ladder bar shelving for each bar. As a favor the couples family had custom blend of Michigan red and white wine with a personalized thank you label to each guest displayed in wine barrels.
Hayley and Ron were the most relaxed couple on their wedding day and were a true example of focusing on their marge and celebrating with their family and friends.
